About Bev.......
I began practicing yoga in mid life when a running injury sidelined me for a bit. Looking for something physical to do without the pounding force of the foot strike involved in running, I turned to yoga for "exercise." Quickly I realized how yoga is a complete mind/body experience and I began to research all of the health benefits associated with the practice of yoga.
And then, I was hooked......
I earned my RYT-200 studying Hatha yoga with Jaye Martin and Rita Knorr at Yoga Village in Clearwater, FL. The curriculum was alignment based yoga with a focus on structure and form. This style pairs nicely with my background in healthcare in the nursing profession. I then completed my RYT-500 certification at the Lotus Pond in Tampa, Florida. Here I studied with many master teachers. Two of my favorites were visiting faculty, Larissa Hall Carlson and Karin Stephan. I currently hold my E-RYT 200 hour and RYT-500 hour certifications with Yoga Alliance. Using my clinical knowledge of the body and pairing that with my prior teaching experience in the nursing profession, I enjoy crafting my classes with an emphasis on overall wellness.
I hold a Certification in Restorative Yoga studying in Dallas with Judith Lasater and locally at Lotus Pond with Nancy McDonald. Restorative yoga is a gentle and still practice which enhances the body's functioning by reducing stress, encouraging opening in the structural body and restoring equilibrium. It is one of my favorite styles of yoga and a practice that has lasting positive effects for the body in today's busy and often overscheduled life!
I am also certified in Yin Yoga practice, studying with Melissa Carroll at Lotus Pond in Tampa, FL. Yin yoga is a nice compliment and balance to the more yang style of Hatha yoga.
An unusual thing about my teaching is that I love teaching newbie yogis! I periodically run a new beginner series for those just getting started at Yoga Village in Clearwater. Yoga is for all bodies! All ages, all levels. Watching new yoga practitioners figure this out is simply fun and joyful!!
Originally from Pennsylvania, I earned a Bachelor's in Nursing from Penn State University (Go Lions! We ARE!) and a Master's in Nursing from Villanova University where I also taught in the Nursing undergraduate program. I no longer practice in the nursing profession but hold that space dear to my heart.
"Yoga is a wonderful way to integrate a strong and flexible body, with a balanced mind and a peaceful self, as we continue along life's journey towards optimal wellness." ............... Bev Klein
